About us
Youth Alliance for Rural Development in Liberia (YARD-Liberia)
Youth Alliance for Rural Development in Liberia (YARD-Liberia) was founded on June 1, 2017, by a group of young Liberians. The organization was registered as a national non-governmental organization on June 19, 2019, with Registration No:052286565.
The incorporators of the organization are all youth who have the passion to address the issue of poor education, unemployment among youth and producing young community leaders. Since the organization formation we have partnered with many national and international organizations including United Nations Industrial Development Organizations (UNIDO), West Africa Civil Society Institute(WASCI), NAYMOTE-Liberia, National Elections Commission(NEC) Liberia, BudgIT-Liberia, Peace Revolution, Shareyourself.org, LIFT-Africa, World Peace Initiative, United Planet, MenEngage-Liberia, Voices Liberia, Real Women of Substance, West Africa ICT Network, Africans Rising, District #2 Development Council, Monrovia Peace Club, etc. to address issues of concern to youth

Our Programs

Education
We recognize that education is the foundation of sustainable development and social transformation. As one of our core focus areas, we are committed to advancing Goal 4 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
“Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

Health
We believe that health is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of sustainable development. As part of our key focus areas, we are deeply committed to advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and promoting Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) as critical aspects of youth empowerment and gender equity.

Human Rights Advocacy
Human Rights Advocacy is a core focus area. We work to promote dignity, justice, and equal protection under the law by equipping young people and communities with knowledge, tools, and platforms to claim their rights peacefully and responsibly. Our approach combines community education, civic engagement, stakeholder dialogue

Environmental Awareness
Environmental Awareness is a central focus area. We believe healthy communities depend on healthy environments from clean water and functioning forests to safe waste management and resilient coastal zones. Our work aims to increase local knowledge, promote practical conservation actions, and connect youth with the skills and partnerships

Civil & Peace Education
Civil & Peace Education is a foundational focus area. We empower young people with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to build peaceful communities, participate meaningfully in civic life, and uphold democratic values. Through interactive, inclusive, and rights-based programming, we cultivate informed citizens capable of dialogue, respect

STEM Awareness & Capacity Building
At YARD-Liberia, Inc., STEM Awareness & Capacity Building is a strategic focus area. We believe science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are engines of opportunity for Liberia’s young people unlocking pathways to innovation, jobs, resilient communities, and inclusive national development.

Computer & Digital Literacy Training
At YARD-Liberia, Inc., we recognize that digital proficiency is no longer optional it’s essential. That’s why Computer & Digital Literacy stands as a critical focus area during our mission to equip Liberian youth with the skills needed for academic success
